I remember as a child my parents would ask, “do you know what you are saying?” I didn’t know it then but now I realize what they meant in their verbiage, “I can see further than you can.” As children we only knew the end results but they knew everything that came along with it.
This reminds me of the mother that came to make her plea to Jesus for her sons positions on His left and right. “What do you want?” He asked. She answered, “Declare that in Your kingdom one of these two sons of mine will sit at Your right hand, and the other at Your left. You do not know what you are asking”, Jesus replied. “Are you able to drink the cup I am going to drink?” “We are able,” the brothers answered. “You will indeed drink My cup,” Jesus said,” Mathew 20; 21-22.
Jesus knew quite well what He had endured and what was to come. The mother’s focus was on Jesus’ reign. She didn’t know the suffering that He had to endure on His journey. If we were to reflect on Jesus’ journey, we would realize the closer He got to the cross the more He had to suffer.
I recently experienced what I would I described as stepping into an ant mound. It felt like one sting after another. The more I tried to shake it off the more attacks. I was in a spiritual warfare. I couldn’t understand. Questions after questions came to mind. It wasn’t making any sense. I was doing all I knew to do. I began to increase my prayer life but the attacks increased. I only wanted to please Him so why was all that necessary?
God gave me this scenario about bird as they soars. The higher a birds soars the more susceptible they become targets. When birds are in their nest they have more covering. Their nests are nestled in the branches of the trees. It is only when the birds comes out to fly they become in view of targets and the higher they soar the better the view. The higher they fly, less are surrounding them. Let’s bring it to life. The higher we go in Him, the more visible we become. When we are on the same playing field with many, things are not as visible because we are all on the same level. It is only when we start rise above that we draw attention.
As long as we are on the same playing field as most, we are safe. It’s only when we start moving above ground that the attacks are launched. In a real war, the enemy can’t see until there is movement. They can’t see until we are in view.
But what do we do? Do stay in hiding? Do we retreat? We don’t hide and we don’t retreat but we do as Paul warned the church of Ephesus, “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” Ephesians 6;11. Dare not hide or retreat but we pursue. We cover ourselves in The Word and pursue by faith. When the attacks comes and know they will come, destroy them with The Word. Be encouraged by Isaiah 54;17,no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and their vindication from me, declares the LORD.” This heritage belong to us, His children.
So go on and soar without fear. Pursue by faith in knowing He’s with you. Remember the weapons may form but it won’t succeed. It can’t stop you. You have been empowered. Believe and spread your wings. Leap, fly and soar because He has promised to be with us even until the end of the age! Even when it seems we are flying alone He is there flying with us and cheering us on. Even when it gets a little tiring along the way, I believe He is the wind beneath our wings. Like Jesus we will suffer the greatest attacks the closer we get to our blessings, but you continue to soar until you reach your destination. The enemy doesn’t want to see us blessed but hold fast to His promises and pursue. He’s with us!
Hi, My sister. These words bring to mind – Isaiah 40:31-But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint. Let’s fly like that eagle.
